Millennials prefer CBD over prescription drugs for mental health

Millennials take their mental health seriously - 50 percent of young adults would choose CBD over prescription drugs when treating conditions like anxiety.

Chemical testing and analysis firm Eos Scientific surveyed more than 2,000 adults in the U.K. and discovered an increase of mental health awareness among millennials - 47 percent of people aged 18 - 34 were worried about being prescribed a medication that was too severe for their symptoms.

Thirty-five percent of people in the same age group said they preferred to use holistic medicine to manage their mental health, while 50 percent of millennial participants said they’d be open to using CBD oil.

Participants reported feeling wary of certain prescription drugs’ side effects, which can include blurry vision, insomnia, headaches, fatigue, increased blood pressure and weight gain.

CBD, or cannabidiol, has shown promising results in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and more. The naturally-occuring chemical originates from the cannabis sativa plant and is non-psychoactive and non-addictive.
